Portland City Council

November 1998 -- Both Dan Saltzman and his opponent were sitting Multnomah County Commissioners running to take an open seat on the Portland City Council. The resources for both campaigns were competitive and Saltzman's opponent had the endorsements. But Dan had Winning Mark. With juvenile crime a top issue of concern for voters, this spot grabbed their attention, and helped propel Saltzman to victory.

State Attorney General

November 2002 -- Known by observers of state government for his integrity, work ethic and competence, Hardy Myers was nonetheless a low-profile Attorney General completing his first term. His challenger, State Rep. Kevin Mannix, was a well-known statewide figure who was seen as "Mr. Tough on Crime" thanks to his authorship of several ballot measures. Hardy Myers was heavily outspent, and subject to harsh attacks towards the end of the campaign, but was still reelected with a 3.7% margin.
