Say NO to Oil-Dri
In the summer of 2001, the Reno-Sparks Indian colony faced a threat to their homes and families: the Oil-Dri Corporation was planning to put a huge mining operation next to the Colony’s principal residential area. What were they going to mine? Kitty litter. (One of the pleasures of this business is learning something new every day…who knew that kitty litter was mined?) But while it might sound amusing, the reality was anything but: the mine posed a variety of dangers, from health, to water quality, to scarring one of the last beautiful open spaces in the area.
