Candidates
Just some examples of the work we've done for candidates over the past several political cycles:
- A perfect record in statewide candidate races, including races for Governor, Attorney General, State Treasurer, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
- Serving both candidates and independent expenditure efforts, a better than 80% success rate in legislative and municipal races in over 30 states.
Ballot Measures and Advocacy
Winning Mark has worked on over 40 ballot measures, ranging from statewide to municipal. We also have delivered winning direct mail and media on a host of non-ballot advocacy efforts. Our victories include:
- Defeating the tobacco industry on tobacco taxes and tobacco-free workplace measures.
- Defeating some of the nation's leading anti-tax and anti-government activists.
- Defending the rights of union members to organize and control their paycheck deduction rights.
- Defending the right of trial by jury.
- Blocking environmentally dangerous mining and manufacturing projects in Nevada and New York.
Public Funding
Winning Mark is especially well known for winning voter approval for financial support. We have developed a reputation for taking on difficult races after others have failed. Over the last 9 years, we have earned an unmatched record of winning funding measures:
- Winning Mark provided direct mail and strategic advice for the successful campaign to extend Colorado Springs' Trails, Open Space and Parks program.
- In 2003, Winning Mark ran the campaign that passed a first-time-ever local income tax to protect schools and social service programs in Multnomah County, Oregon. The impact of this victory was felt nationwide, garnering notice from (among others) the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and CNN.
- Winning Mark helped confound conventional wisdom by convincing a wide margin of Boise, Idaho voters to raise their own taxes to preserve critical parts of the Boise�s signature foothills.
- The Oregonian termed our victory in Oregon�s 1995 Metro Open Space Bond Measure 'stunning.'
- All told, Winning Mark has won hundreds of millions of dollars for open space, parks, schools, libraries, zoos, public safety, habitat restoration and other important public services.
